Alea, a design reference in Venezuela

A transoceanic trip for Alea. CEO Tiziano Carlot was a guest of the Italian-Venezuelan Chamber of Commerce (Cavenit) in the capital, Caracas. “As part of the local Caracas Design Week, this institutional meeting allowed us to explore new opportunities for collaboration together with the president, Álvaro Peressutti—of Friulian origin—and his entire team. Cavenit is a historic institution that has been fostering synergies with Italy for over 70 years. One of the most focused sectors today is design, and in particular a vision of the office that goes beyond traditional standards by integrating with other fields,” Carlot explained.

“In Venezuela, where the Italian and Italian-descendant community is one of the most significant—with a strong Friulian presence—Made in Italy is a highly appreciated and sought-after hallmark. Being a potential reference point to evaluate collaborative projects that, while building on a market channel active for several years, also consider exchanges with universities, institutions, and other Venezuelan companies makes us very proud,” emphasized Alea’s CEO. “Our goal in engaging with well-established companies active on international markets is to promote innovation, versatility, and the quality of Italian design—both as a commercial partner and as a model for our industry,” added the Italian-Venezuelan Chamber of Commerce. With growing interest in sustainability, an area in which Alea has shared two years of experience as a Benefit Corporation.

Carlot was accompanied on the trip by Udine-based architect Cristian Malisan, who designed the Finn armchair for Alea’s m | artedesign contract brand. Alea was brought into the meeting with Cavenit representatives and Caracas Design Week—where Carlot and Malisan spoke about office and contract design—by architects Rolando Delgado and Nelson Machado of Mundo Modular, Alea’s long-standing South American partner. In the coming months, a return visit to Italy is planned, involving designers, architects, and students.
